Halloween in Miniature 23-7: Trick or Treat!

Welcome to more Halloween in Miniature!

(See schedule/Start at Day 1; Next week: Day 8)

(Click photos for full size; see more links in left column archives.)

Halloween also means Trick or Treating!

Oh, look! Some visitors came to Trick-or-Treat at the Witch Cottage! The little mummy is happy to greet them!

The Witch Cottage is pretty much done except for a few small things. It's been fun getting it ready for Halloween!

I love how the flowers came out and the colors. The yellow  "bush" is some fake plant pick I found at Walmart. Figured it would work with a "fanciful" kind of house. I'll share more and a video soon, too!

** TA-DAH! While I've changed a few things, but the Witch Cottage is mostly done!  I'll share some videos later. I love the yard and porch. I think it turned out great!

Halloween in Miniature 23-6: Ghostly Hauntings

Welcome to another day of Halloween in Miniature!

Another day, another haunting...

(Start at and see schedule at Day 1; Next: Day 7.)

Click photos for full size; see other posts in left column archives.

Halloween means haunted houses and other places, plus ghostly happenings. Funny that I actually have not put any ghostly creations in my miniature houses...

But here's a fun one: Linda Wooten, who makes amazing spooky rooms, items, and wonderful curtains under the name Wooten's Miniatures (See her Facebook page) has created a great haunted room based on The Haunted Mansion! (Love that chandelier and ceiling!)

And check out the inhabitants!

And.... wow, they glow, too!

Nice details in the room! Isn't this fantastic???

#Halloween in Miniature 23-5: The Great Pumpkin!

Welcome back to Halloween in Miniature! (Start: Day 1 with schedule; click photos for full size or see left column archives. Next: Day 6)

Halloween wouldn't be complete without pumpkins! Love all those freaky, weird, smiling faces and orange everywhere! Above: Here's a favorite room with lots of orange - the main bedroom in my half-scale Fairfield. The trim's done since this pic, but it gives the best view.

** (Don't forget to play along on Instagram (see info/link below.) **

I  love the way orange brightens up a house at Halloween. And who can resist pumpkins and Jack 'O Lanterns?

Here's some Poppy-like flowers I made in a pumpkin planter. The foam "planter" was on a flower pick I found at Target. Table used in the corner of the Witch Cottage porch.

I didn't want to lighten this photo to show the pumpkin lit up on the porch! Mr. Skellie loves sitting out there at night.

A wagon-load of pumpkins. Half-scale wagon kit from SDK Miniatures.

I also put lots of pumpkins around the porch of this year's Halloween project, the half-scale Witch's Cottage, made from Laser Dollhouse Design's Jasmine Gothic Cottage. I'll be showing more of the Witch Cottage shortly. Stay tuned!

#Halloween in Miniature 23-4: Let's Eat!

Welcome back to Halloween in Miniature! (Start and see schedule at Day 1, or see left column archives. Click photos for full size. Next: Day 5.)

Every Halloween event needs food and lots of goodies! * Be sure to play along on Instagram (see info/link below.) *

I like making spooky food, so I've done some various dishes over time. Don't mind the mold and spiderwebs on the table above. Only adds flavor! haa!

Tea, anyone? I also have an assortment of Halloween-flavored teapots, some made by my Dutch friend, Kitty. These, and much more, are in my Halloween store. See store and interior here. This was a fun project to do.

Hungry yet? We have a unique assortment of cakes. (Watch out, that one may bite! ha!)
Cakes made by my Dutch friend Kitty quite a while ago - that's how long I still need to make that Witch's Bakery. haa! I am so-slow!

Halloween in Miniature 23-3: Eerie Skeletons

💀 What says Halloween more than skeletons? 💀

The coffin above is a fun gag-gift to stop smoking (it has recorded messages when you push a button) that we happend to find at Goodwill. I was making a funeral home parlor with skellies, which is not quite done yet. I did dress the skellie for the coffin and was dressing several others as mourners. I decided to get it out and work on it again. Maybe it'll be ready by Halloween, but I figured I can always change the inside around to other stores later if I want.

I actually have dressed quite a few other skellies as they are fun to do. Here's one I did in a small wall hanging box.

I also did a fortune teller's room in a smaller greenhouse.  The customers look pretty happy considering how long they've been waiting for their turn. ha! See a few other photos.

Don't forget to stop and have a cup of tea with Grandma Skellie. (See other photos here.)

Guess I like skeletons? ha! My latest favorite is this little joined, movable guy/gal (?) and his/her dog who are visiting at my Witch's Cottage.

And did you know...  Skellies are useful! I mean who can't use a Skellie sewing machine?  This fun kit  - complete with "foot" pedal - haaa! - is from Alice Zinn. Contact her on Facebook to get one (if they're not gone already, or maybe she'll make more.)

Halloween in Miniature 23-2: Witchy!

Welcome to this year's annual Halloween in Miniature! You can see past years' posts on the top tab. (Click photos for full size; see other posts in left column archives.) * Schedule/Start at Day 1

Since today's theme is "Witch Way," which I'm interpreting as something witchy!

Above is the witch that is in my 1" scale haunted house I built awhile ago. See other photos of the house at my website. I know not everyone likes dolls, but I enjoy them in all sizes and all scales. I got this witch some time back from ebay.

Another view of the witch and her, um, "friend." I put these in a small greenhouse temporarily.

Another witch, the Lady in Red, I also dressed some time back from a doll kit.

I hadn't worked on a doll in bit, so it was fun recently dressing a much tinier Half Scale - 1/24th doll I got from Bonnie Glazier for my recently finished Witch Cottage. If you've been following the blog, I've been sharing the house's progress. (See last post, roof and accessories; see other posts in left column archives.)

And... we have guests!

Oh, look, some friends have come to visit, or maybe share their favorite potions! How does that rhyme go? Double double, toil and trouble... Uh-oh, hope nothing goes wrong! These fun hand-sculpted 1/24th scale witches are by Lisa Tabbanor. (Check her Etsy shop.)

How nice! Edwina (Julie Campbell's hand-sculpted witch 1/12th scale) brought dessert for everyone! Shh! Don't ask what the ingredients are! It can't be bad, though. It looks yummy and she has such a kind face - even if she has that glint in her eyes!
(See more of Julie's dolls on her website or on Facebook.)

* Go back: Day 1  - Next: Day 3:  (Links active day of post.)

* Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to come back for more Halloween fun! *

Halloween in Miniature 23-1 Party!

Appetizers by me. Head cheese anyone? (Groan)

Now some of the pictures may be familiar to regular blog visitors, but I'll try to mix them up and add new photos also!

Today's Theme: Something Spooky!
Well...

My eternal hostess, Matilda, scoffs at such a label. "Spooky? What do you mean, spooky? Why, that is just how things are!"
She tends to be slightly cranky, so ignore her....

Spooky? You decide what that means!

Here's one of my past "Haunted Houses," which I keep up all year. It's papered inside but I don't decorate it. I only put some flashing strings of LED lights in it for atmosphere...

Don't forget to get some of the house wine.

Watch out, I hear it's got quite a kick! haa!

Oops, wait a minute! Matilda!  Did you show our guests where the food is? And where are the snacks? We can't have everyone getting too tipsy! Don't worry about the skellies. They'll be fine. It all just goes right through them anyway. haaa!

Yum!

Ah, yes, some Eyeball pizza or the toe-chiladas (or is that fingers?) should do it. Don't forget the chips and dip! (From my collection.)

Come back tomorrow for more Halloween minis!

National Dollhouse & Miniatures Month!

 Yay, it's October!!

Lots to celebrate - National Dollhouse & Miniatures Month, and Halloween! And.... Halloween in Miniature is coming!!

So... what are you working on this month?

I'm working on more decorative things for the Witch Cottage. Yes, it's still ongoing! (See last post; see other posts in left column archives. Click photos for full size.)

This is something cool....  When is a horse not just a horse? Well...when it's Halloween....

I saw photos online and just had to do this! I started painting a larger horse awhile ago (and may do that one too at some point) but then found this smaller one which works better for 1/24, half-scale. My nearly-13-year-old Shepherd Gracie contributed some of her hair for the tail! (She's always losing clumps of hair. Finally found a use for it. haa!)

Also finished this cute half-scale wagon prototype from SDK Miniatures. (Ask and maybe she'll make more!) I knew it had to have pumpkins in it!

And the last of the real-life flowers:

My Mexican sunflowers didn't come up in a batch this year, though the others in the big planter are fine. But this was weird:

It's hard to tell with all the green but that is one-giant-Mexican Sunflower. (See the arrows in pic.) It has a super thick stalk and has to be around 8-feet tall, the tallest I've ever had! The other flowers lower down are a shoot off the side. I never knew they'd get this big. In contrast, what were supposed to be Mammoth Russian sunflowers planted on the other side (not shown) turned out to be small, skinny stalks. So who knows what happened this year. ha!

Thanks for visiting. Stay tuned for more Halloween minis fun!
