Happy 2026! What are you working on?
Between working on the annual half-scale swap (many pieces to what I'm making! Due to be mailed by the end of Feb.), I'm still finishing up egg-carton stones (slow tedious process) on the Witch's Bakery and... what am I doing next????
I got this out: 1/24 Lansdowne 1-car garage/Laser Dollhouse Designs (Garage assembly PDF) (Website photos; click photos for full size.)
It's a pretty nice building, isn't it? I'm intrigued and deciding on the colors. I'm really glad it has wood shingle strips so I don't have to deal with shingles again! I thought I'd never get done on the Lavender Cottage roofs!
The garage has a second floor for a small apartment. I'd like to add a half-bath in it too. I was thinking of a small kitchenette or at least a counter with a mini fridge and microwave; and maybe it should have a shower? Looks like it could fit in that dormer space. Yeah, lots of ideas. Depends on how much room there is. I won't know until I assemble and test-fit things.
And, as much as I like the stairs, those spindles seem awfully fancy for a garage, don't they? I'll probably save them and just put plain wood pieces in.
Of course it could be fun to make the typical dirty garage bathroom downstairs, though I'm not sure I want to mess it up. Well, maybe a little... The big question: messy or clean garage? ha! Maybe a bit of both! That bath might fit under the stairs (which would be ideal.) I can't tell how big the space is from the photos.
The pieces (above, top) belong to a Japanese garage parts kit I bought a while back. All those pieces! Why I got it out and put it away a while back!
Oddest mini purchase I made: a bunch of toy cars at Goodwill so I can find the right size tires. ha! But even some of the larger tires can be used in piles in the back. Some cars may fit being "repaired" in the garage; we'll see. I'll also have to add some crates and piles of "junk" lying around!
Here are some tires that fit on the tire rack from the kit above.
I also have a Garage book nook kit I bought before Christmas as I hoped to use some of the things in it. I may copy and print some out, mount them to mat board, and then further decorate them so I can use the originals in the kit yet. (website photo) But... I also have this weird idea of making a room in this... it would be a different kind of living space!Eventually, I might set up the garage sale again eventually... I did that with another building before. We'll see. I might have to shift some of my display houses around again to make room.
Still in the thinking and planning process on this project.... I'll post soon on what I decide.
